Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, the first trailer for Paul Feig's Ghostbusters has finally dropped. I have some thoughts on it, but let's all take a look at it first, yeah?
There was doubt that this film was taking place in the same universe as the original films, but the trailer makes it pretty clear this new Ghostbusters is a sequel, not a remake. Unless all that "30 Years Ago..." stuff is purely marketing to tie the originals to this new one, of course.
I dig the little glimpses at the chemistry between the leads we saw, but I'm a little worried about the ghost stuff. I'm sure they're holding back a lot, but I don't know how much I like nearly all the ghosts being humanoid. One of the things I loved so much about the original two films was that outside of a couple noteable ghosts (like the librarian and the infamous blowjob ghost) the supernatural entities were monsters or super exaggerated versions of humans.
Again, this is early, so I'm not gonna full out bitch about it because we could very well get all that, too, but it was something that jumped to mind when I watched the trailer above.
What do you folks think? If they do cement this as having taken place in the same universe as the originals do you think that means all the rumors of the original cast cameos being different characters are BS and we'll get Stantz and Venkman back on screen?
