Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm starting to worry I'm going to look like a spoilsport on The Witch just because I didn't do backflips for it when I finally saw the flick at Fantastic Fest last year. I think it's a very good movie, but one that made a promise to really frighten me and didn't quite live up to that.
It's a gorgeous movie that is truly committed to capturing the terror of the unknown. In this case that unknown is the sprawling, wooded lands of the unconquered Americas.
So while I don't think the movie is the second coming of horror, it's definitely a bold, finely crafted genre effort unlike anything we've seen on the big screen in a long, long time.
The latest trailer was just released and it's once again a superbly edited piece of marketing. I'd love it if a weird little period horror movie like The Witch hits big at the box office. Check out the trailer below:
