No mention of Melissa McCarthy, who played Lorelei Gilmore’s best friend over seven seasons, but Netflix has locked up the returns of Lauren Graham (Lorelei), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Keiko Agena (Lane) and Sean Gunn (Kirk).
All are returning for four 90-minute "Gilmore Girls" movies written and directed by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel.
The movies will catch us up on what the characters have been up to in the nine years since the series’ finale on The WB, and will finally give Sherman-Palladino a chance to end the story her way after she elected not to participate creatively in the netlet’s seventh and final season of the show.
The movies are intended a farewell for the characters.
In real life, Graham had a five-season run as Sarah Braverman on NBC’s “Parenthood” since “Gilmore Girls” closed shop. Bledel appeared in three memorable episodes of “Mad Men” as a married woman who has an affair with Pete Campbell before she undergoes electroshock therapy.
A critical and commercial hit during its 2000-2007 run on The WB, “Gilmore Girls” made Time Magazine’s 2007 list of the 100 best TV shows of all time.
