Hey guys! Horrorella here...
A trailer has been released for the CABIN FEVER remake. If you recall, this one ranks high on my WTF list, not only because I am a huge fan of Eli Roth's debut film, but because this remake is virtually the same as the original. Roth is producing, and Travis Zariwny is directing from the original script by Roth and Randy Perlstein. It seems like a strange exercise, considering they won't really be bringing anything new to the story, and the original doesn't even feel that dated.
“The story is familiar: fresh out of college, a group of five friends retreat to a remote cabin in the woods for one last week of partying—only to become snacks for a gruesome, flesh-eating virus. What’s surprising are the ingenious new deaths, which offer a fresh spin on a horror-comedy milestone.”
So how will the new one compare? From the trailer, pretty damn close. Specific lines, scenes and characters are all present and accounted for. You can see some tweaks here and there - they gender-swapped Deputy Winston, the Party Man Cop (originally played by Giuseppe Andrews), for instance, but I freaking loved Deputy Winston the first time around. Overall, the footage here is largely the same.
But Roth is excited about it, so that's something; when the news first broke he expressed how pleased he was with Zariwny's interpretation of his script.
We'll have the chance to form our own opinions when the film hits theaters and VOD on February 12th.
In the meantime, what do you guys think of the trailer? Is it what you were expecting?
