Alora... and this time Alora has been investigating the shooting locale of Frank Darabont's THE BIJOU.... or something called NEED YOU.... Has THE BIJOU become... NEED YOU? If so, that's a terrible title change, unless it is his way of filming undercover... in which case I just accidently blew it. I mean, I haven't heard anything about Frank dropping THE BIJOU... in fact we'd just been hearing recently that it was gearing up.... Martin Landau, Jim Carrey... The film was moving. Having read the script.... the title THE BIJOU is classic. As for it being a love story... and it is in many stratas.... Also there are no vertical metal bars in this film.... Oh what will he do? hehehe....

My name is Alora. I've been following your site since day one, but this is only the second time I've ever had any news to send (the first time was a review of Mulan about a year before it was released).
The small county of Humboldt in Northern California where I live ("The Emerald Triangle", famous for our powerful local marijuana) has played host to shooting for several films, among them "Return of the Jedi" (Endor), "Outbreak" (the small town stuff with the gumdrop trees), and "The Lost World" (coastal scenery). I was an extra in "Outbreak", and my uncle (the millworker) was a Stormtrooper in "Jedi". The local economy loves it when Hollywood comes to town, and today it was announced that Frank Darabont will be filming all of his next movie here in Humboldt.
Now, I thought Darabont was working on "Collateral Damage", but they announced the title of the film was "Need You", and that it was a love story. They also said they could not tell us who was starring in the film due to actors still in negotiation; they promised to fill us in later this week.
I'd appreciate any info on this you might have, and I hope I have a shot at being an extra again. Last time I got to meet Cuba Gooding and Dustin Hoffman!

In my morning paper was a small mention that Frank Darabont's next film, Bijou, will be filming on location near me in the small, "Victorian village" of Ferndale, California. Ferndale's about 250 miles north of San Fran. (15 miles south of Eureka, where I live), and was honored a couple years back as being the turn-of-the-(last)-century, small American town depicted at Legoland, USA. It's also where Outbreak was filmed. We get our share of film crews here in Humboldt County (see the recent spate of car ads featuring the redwoods), though most of the big films are inaccessable (both Jurassic Parks, scenes in several Star Wars films), but I'm hoping to get a gander at the Bijou production. Filming is said to begin sometime in April, so I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I can find out anything.
