Earlier when Moriarty broke this scoop last week.... many of you called him crazy..... And you were right... he is a crazy ol koot sniffing his folger's crystals and demi-tang... but he was right. So with one fail swoop Variety's confirmation takes BASIC INSTINCT 2 from the 'sequel' category and moved it over to the CULT SHELF! And that shelf is in MY HOUSE... YESSSSSsssss.... Cronenberg will get to fuck with the American public's perceptions of sex and violence.... He gets to debase Sharon Stone in some sickly perverse cold medical feeling manner. The perfect person to do sequels to all VERHOEVEN films is David Cronenberg.... Can you imagine... DAVID CRONENBERG's ROBOCOP 2? Dear lord.... Alex Murphy's conciousness would become sexually obsessed... never being able to get his rocks off without sticking a fist spike into a computer bank and uploading porn straight into his conciousness.... Oh man..... Or, DAVID CRONENBERG's SHOWGIRLS 2: TIJUANA TWATS.... Animal acts, stunt sex acts, snuff acts.... Or... STARSHIP TROOPERS 2.. oh dear god... just imagine.... HOLLOWMAN 2 by Cronenberg.... Everything would be just great. That would be BIZARRE but equally trippy..... Then after Cronenberg... pass the properties onto John Waters then onto Tim Burton then onto The Coens.
