Tessa Thompson has been knocking it out of the ball park with her recent roles. From her breakout role in DEAR WHITE PEOPLE to her supporting, but signficant portrayal of activist Diane Nash in SELMA to her complex turn opposite Michael B. Jordan in CREED - Thompson is certainly on the rise and is well on her way to taking on bigger and bigger projects.
Such as Alex Garland's new film, ANNIHILATION. Garland will follow up last year's incredible EX MACHINA with an adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer's sci-fi novel. According to The Wrap the story "follows a group of women who take on a dangerous mission where the laws of nature don’t apply.The group consists of an anthropologist; a surveyor; a psychologist who serves as the group’s de facto leader; and a biologist, who serves as the narrator."
Thompson is currently in talks to join the film alongside Natalie Portman and Gina Rodriguez. It's exciting to see Thomson taking on bigger and bigger roles, and the idea of her teaming up with Garland is pretty awesome. After his work on EX MACHINA, I'm excited to see what he does next.
