Hey folks, Harry here... Two of the blacklight Marvel posters that decorated my ceiling above my bed growing up were Doctor Strange posters. Then that TV DOCTOR STRANGE movie, although very wrong, I loved it cuz... the TV World was acknowledging DOCTOR STRANGE. My parents made a Doctor Strange costume that was TOTALLY WRONG - with a scrimshawed Sperm Whale Tooth in place of THE EYE - and I didn't care. For most of my life, the best, non comic tale with DOCTOR STRANGE was that episode of SPIDER-MAN & HIS AMAZING FRIENDS. DOCTOR STRANGE and opening up the mystical realms of the Marvel Universe is the key dream I have for this 2016 ahead of us. I want it to just be jaw dropping! Well, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY decided to make Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen Strange it's cover boy for the 2016 Film season - and it looks sharp!
Can we say that's approximately a zillion times better than the old 1970's TV Movie version of DOCTOR STRANGE? Cuz I sure can. Sure - the collar isn't nearly as crazy as I would have liked - and the EYE OF AGAMOTTO looks a tad more like the EYE OF DELTORO - but ya know what - that spell symbol is THE SHIT!!!! I love the ambient sparks of magic - and it's a totally cooler spell casting than Monsieur Potter ever had. WHICH IS AS IT SHOULD BE, cuz Potter was no SORCEROR SUPREME! Now - EW Dropped some other images beyond the cover...
Well - at least in this shot - we've seemed to have lost the yellow trim, but that's not a horrifying loss... and don't you just want to feel how soft that cape looks - looks velvety right?
This looks like it could be the interior of the SANCTOR SANCTORIUM, the dear Doctor's NYC digs. Seems awfully obsessed with rectangles to me But lots of nifty display cases for relics from the beyond! We can see the cape, but I'm not able to really make out all the other groovy things - but like ODIN'S TROPHY ROOM - you and I both know this place has some cool shit in it!
Really digging the upside down arched back of the cosmic rendering of DOCTOR STRANGE here - This is the concept art that's supposed to help convince us that they're going FULL TRIPPY with DOCTOR STRANGE - and as static images goes - it is headed in the right direction, don't ya think?
This is Doctor Strange's low point - where he discovers that his precious super surgeon mitts ain't fit for shit no mores! Images like these are things of legend. But it's ok Dear Doctor - you'll be doing this soon enough:
I really would love a great Motion Poster of a Floating Lotus Position DOCTOR STRANGE with mystical symbols all around him and good ol otherworldly chanting sounds to stare at for the better part of an evening. Oh - and the cape needs to be billowy and moving constantly. Yeah.
NOVEMBER is just too fucking far away! Good thing we have the Victorian SHERLOCK coming soon enough!
