The writers are back (no, not those two) for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP!

Everyone knows there was some craziness surrounding the ANT-MAN script. Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, of course, wrote the initial draft, which was revised by Paul Rudd and Adam McKay when Wright and Marvel parted ways (though their work still earned them story AND screenplay credits). However, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari took over after that, working for six months on the production without getting credit.

Well, this time, they’ll get credit.

Barrer and Ferrari will co-write the sequel with Paul Rudd, with Adam McKay helping out on the story but not the actual script. Obviously this time, they have a lot more freedom, as they don’t have to build their script around a template already devised and put into motion by another, highly unique talent.

Peyton Reed told Comic Book Resources that the film won’t be another heist film, but that the genre they’re going for is “going to remain a surprise.” Hopefully, he and his writers will be able to conjure something up that maintains all the goodwill the first one surprisingly earned.

One thing’s for sure: there will be jokes.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP do other stuff besides stealing a suit on July 16th, 2018.
