The CW says of “Legends Of Yesterday”:
Oliver and Barry Allen take Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow and The Flash that doesn't go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity, Thea, Diggle and Laurel work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy.
For those unaware, Hawkman will join The Atom, Firestorm and Rip Hunter to continue his battle with Savage on “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” the CW miniseries spin-off launching Jan. 21.
Longtime talkbacker Shermdawg recaps last week’s “Brotherhood”:
In a television genre that tends to be overly formulaic, the last installment of Arrow came pretty close to being a clone of the episode that preceded it. Once again the team found themselves on a MacGuffin hunt infiltrating a building named after a well known comic character or writer (Wolfman Industries), once again a character that recently returned announced their exit as they needed a break to do some soul searching in preparation of their move over to Legends of Tomorrow (Ray Palmer), and once again there was the revelation that a thought to be dead character was in fact alive (Diggle's brother Andy).
After discovering his brother wasn't nearly as dead as he thought after being unmasked as one of Damien Darhk's "Ghosts", and despite evidence that the Ghosts were under the influence of a mind altering drug leaving them susceptible to Darhk's command, Diggle still demonized him for the mistakes he thought he made as well as abandoning his family as if he had any say in the matter under Darhk's control. He disagreed with Team Arrow's insistence of rescuing him, the notion there may be more to the story than he knew, and the chance that Andy may not have been the lost cause he had him pegged for. After Team Arrow managed to rescue him, Diggle's doubts seemed to be justified as Andy admits the file Darhk had on him involving his shady past and supposed black market dealings, was all true.
During Andy's Rescue, Thea ran into Darhk who tried to use his powers on her but was some how protected as Darhk inadvertently absorbed the bloodlust curse she had been stricken with. Once she realized Darhk seemed to have the ability to remove it, she asked her father....the visiting Malcolm Merlyn, to assist her in hopes to rid herself of the affliction once and for all, something that couldn't come soon enough given she flipped out on some poor sap that wouldn't take "no" for an answer while on a date with Alex (Oliver's campaign adviser), earlier in the episode.
Speaking of Oliver's campaign, after learning Captain Lance wasn't able to dig much deeper into Damien Darhk's operations thanks to Darhk's security team thinking he assisted Team Arrow in rescuing the captive Ray Palmer the week before, Oliver considered taking up Darhk's proposal of them working together politically as an alternate way into H.I.V.E., but eventually realized the best way to take out Darhk was to face him head on and in the light of day as he made a move that would ultimately see Darhk challenge Queen in the Star City mayoral race.
Back in flashback-land on the isle of Lian Yu, Conklin revealed that the prisoner he sent to attack Oliver, and Ollie killed in self defense....was actually the brother of Diana, the woman he rescued several episodes before. Back at camp, Reiter sides with Oliver and orders him to extract punishment on Conklin in the form of a whip. Later on he informs Diana of her brother's death which sends her into a rage, after Ollie manages to calm her down he tells her he's close to pin pointing the location of whatever it is Reiter's been searching for but says he needs a detailed survey map of the island and the only way they'll be able to obtain one is if she helped him....but it wasn't going to be easy.
