A quarter century after playing Valentine McKee in “Tremors,” Kevin Bacon says he’s ready to reprise the role in a TV series.
This is slightly surprising because Bacon elected not to reprise the role in any of the four straight-to-video sequels. (Fred Ward and Michael Gross returned for “Tremors II” while Gross appeared in chapters three, four and five).
Gross also reprised his role the Sci-Fi Channel’s forgotten 2003 “Tremors: The Series,” co-starring Dean Norris and Marcia Strassman. It ran for 13 episodes.
Taking a page from “Dune,” “Tremors” and its sequels dealt with rednecks contending with giant, man-eating worms.
No channel is yet involved but Universal Cable Productions, which is producing the series, says there are several interested bidders.
Bacon (“X-Men: First Class,” “Crazy Stupid Love,” “RIPD,” “Cop Car,” “Black Mass”) remains plenty busy on the big screen, but he also recently shot 45 episodes of the Fox serial-killer series “The Following.”
