Joshua joshes us 'bout JASON X

Hey folks, Harry here... and ya know... I'm actually pretty jazzed to see a JASON flick.... ol Moriarty liked it and he hates everything he ain't paid to love by Harry Lime... and Lime has no dealings with Jason whatsoever... So hmmmm... could be this is actually decent... or even.... coool? we'll see...

Hey Harry!

Just want to let you know, I saw the Jason X movie on Wednesday too. I felt compelled to write after I read the comments on the two reviews. Just to let them and everyone who seemed cynical that, yes, the movie did kick ass. "How can that be?" people must be asking. A good Jason film is an oxy-moron. I was not expecting much going in at all. In fact the opening, where we see Jason chained up and the title card reads "Crystal Lake Research Facility", I felt we were in big trouble. It looked cheesy and stupid, had a direct to video feel and I was ready to split.

Now, I was not, as I said earlier, expecting much. Another piece of shit Jason film with the same old tired formula. But when they opened up the cryo-unit 400 years later, I felt a little glimmer of hope, but I was worried this was just going to be Jason in Space ala Hell raiser: Bloodline.

But it is a blast. They where smart enough to inject some new elements while leaving some of the old, reinventing this tired old war horse. At times it's Jason meets Aliens, Jason meets the Matrix and Jason meets Star Trek. On the down side, some of the sets look hokey and some of the dialogue is god-awful. Par for the course for a Jason film. But it was not as bad as some of the crap we have seen. Not by a long shot. Overall I came out feeling like I was not cheated. The two reviews, I believe, were not plants because they were pretty right on. Most of the people leaving thought the movie was pretty cool too. Just for the record, a close friend of mine, who is a Jason fanatic, hated the film. He said the mix of comedy and horror didn't work at all for him. He said it was not a real Jason film. "Yeah." I said "It wasn't a real Jason film. A real Jason film would have sucked ass!" He just wanted more of that rotten Crystal Lake stuff. Yuchhh!!!

All of you who don't believe it, just you wait and see. When this sucker comes out next year you write and apologize to us. You will eat your words when you see all the Jason costumes next Halloween.

One last point. The effects were stunning and the color was stunning. This was because it was one of the first screenings ever to be done completely digitally. There was no print of the film. They projected it from a state of the art quarter-million dollar digital projector. Not a scratch or a blemish the entire movie. Film may be dead after all.
