The CW says of “Brotherhood”:
Team Green Arrow's ongoing battle with Damien Darhk is complicated by a shocking revelation. Thea's bloodlust returns and she loses control in front of Alex.
Longtime talkbacker Shermdawg recaps last week’s “Lost Souls”:
So last week was Flash and Arrow's latest house cleaning episode setting up another character for Legends of Tomorrow, this time being Ray Palmer's big return after being presumed dead when he inadvertently blew up the top of the Palmer Tech building six months earlier. A blast that shrank him in size and tossed him into a nearby construction site where, according to Ray, he had to fend for himself against "golden retriever sized cockroaches." At some point during his "tater tot sized" adventures he went from tangling with construction site pests to winding up in the clutches of the villainous Damien Darhk and imprisoned within his laboratory for months where Darhk's engineers attempted to restore his size and steal the secrets of his Atom suit.
After managing to send a distress signal to Felicity, which took weeks for her to discover and trace back, a plan was put in motion to rescue Palmer, but they also needed to build a machine that Ray left schematics for that would return him to full size. A machine that required a special component only manufactured by Palmer Tech's largest competitor, Kord Industries. Upon stealing the component needed, the machine was constructed, Ray was rescued, and Ollie tangled with Damien Darhk.
Along the way, the recently resurrected Sarah Lance rejoined Team Arrow and suffered two incidents involving the bloodlust rage which affects anyone brought back by the mystical Lazarus Pit of Nanda Parbat. After killing one of Darhk's "Ghosts", she decides to leave Star City and "figure things out." Something Thea is still trying to do after being asked out by Oliver's campaign manager, and wondered if a relationship was even possible after what she'd been through.
Felicity and Oliver had relationship issues of their own when Ollie seemingly brushed off Felicity's dedication in finding Ray in favor of her spending time with her visiting mother. Eventually, she reveals that she blames herself for ignoring Ray's messages for so long as she let herself get lost within her whirlwind romance. By episode's end, after a heart to heart with mommy dearest, the two make up....and make out. And in a chance encounter, Felicity's mother introduces herself to Quentin Lance after both allude to drama with their children over a drink.
In flashback-ville on the island of Lian Yu, Oliver led Baron Reiter and Conklin to the underground temple in which John Constantine retrieved a long forgotten scepter which held a magical grimoire. When Ollie warns them of the temple's hidden dangers that John had brought to his attention during his previous venture down, Reiter discovers ancient text on the walls and orders Ollie to lead an expedition across the island to find another object. Something Conklin protests knowing full well he's working undercover for A.R.G.U.S. Something Reiter doesn't seem too concerned with, as Oliver discovers Reiter's drug production operation may actually be a front for something else entirely, something....more mystical, after being said to be a "highly religious" individual and "blessing" several prisoners in the past. With Reiter not listening to his warnings, while on the expedition, Conklin takes matters into his own hands secretly ordering a prisoner who had previously took issue with Oliver to attack him. Ollie ends up killing the man as the other prisoners look on.
The big question is what is it that Reiter is looking for? With last week's closing scene once again placing focus on the mystery box that was delivered to Darhk several episodes before, it's likely that would be it. A box, Darhk unfolded revealing what appeared to be an alien schematic of some type. A schematic for something Darhk ordered his chief engineer to attempt to fuel using the recovered residue of Ray Palmer's "Dwarf Star alloy" which they've managed to fashion into a power source. Whatever it is, it's pretty safe to assume it has something to do with Darhk's "rebirth" plans for Star City and bad news for it's residents....especially Team Arrow.
