Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Midnight Special has been a rather giant blip on my radar for a while, mostly because I adore Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter and Mud, both radically different movies yet still with a very recognizable directorial voice.
Nichols is proving to be one of the sneakiest "I'm awesome" directors out there right now. So, I was in already just because he had a new movie in the works, but the more I keep hearing about it, the more amped I get for it.
First of all, he's got Michael Shannon back front and center, this time joined by Kirsten Dunst, Joel Edgerton, Adam Driver, Sam Shepard and young Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent) as his "gifted" son. From what I understand this movie's got a little Firestarter in its blood... about a father on the run with his super-powered kid, trying to keep him safe.
See what I mean about getting even more excited the more you hear about this one? Well, now look at the poster and prepare to turn that excitement-o-meter up to 11.

I love everything about that poster. The mystery, the hints at some greater power within a kid reading about superheroes.
Come on, March. I'm waitin'. Hurry on up and get here!
