Firestorm 2.0 Lights Up
Tonight's THE FLASH 2.4!!

I am – Hercules!!

The CW says of “The Fury of Firestorm”:

Barry and the team look for another Firestorm match for Dr. Stein. When the team meets Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, Caitlin has her reservations about whether Jax is the right match for Dr. Stein. Iris surprises Joe while Barry and Patty grow closer.

Longtime talkbacker Shermdawg recaps last week’s “Family Of Rogues”:

TLDR RECAP...

- After a multiverse breach had been discovered within S.T.A.R. Labs, Jay Garrick and Caitlin Snow constructed a "speed cannon" allowing them to stabilize the breach's wormhole allowing Jay a portal to return home.

- Leonard "Captain Cold" Snart is forced to work with his father on a diamond heist when he implants a bomb in his sister, Lisa. After Team Flash successfully removes the bomb, Snart kills his father and winds up in prison where Barry tells him there's good in him and one day he may become a hero himself.

- Joe tells Iris her mother, who she believed was dead, had actually abandoned her, and has return to Central City wanting to reconnect.

- Dr. Stein somehow lights up as Firestorm on his own without Ronnie Raymond. While on fire, his flames turn blue.

- Barry gets Patty's digits.

- The episode closes with the Harrison Wells of another world emerging from the wormhole.

THE WHOLE SHEBANG...

After scans find fifty two multiverse breaches in Central City with the largest located in the basement of S.T.A.R. Labs....Barry, Jay, and Cisco stare in awe, wondering how Zoom uses it to transport villains from Earth 2 and how Jay could use it to return home when nothing including a speedster can seem to penetrate the wormhole due to its instability. Jay tells them to think of the wormhole as a constantly twisting and turning hallway between two doors, and they needed to develop a "speed cannon" of sorts to stabilize that hallway long enough for something to pass through.

Meanwhile, Iris' thought to be long dead mother Francine, who approached Joe at the end of the previous episode, meets him in a bar to talk. Joe hands her an envelope of cash and tells her to leave things be. She asks if he really thinks he can pay her to walk away....to which he replies "the first time, you walked away for free." Despite claiming that she's changed her ways, Joe tells her that Iris has grown up just fine without her, and informs her she has forty-eight hours to leave town.

Lisa Snart bumps into Cisco at Jitters and says she needs the Flash's help. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs she tells Team Flash, her brother Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold has been abducted during a heist, and that Flash owes Snart for saving his life when they attempted to work together in delivering the meta-humans Team Flash had apprehended to A.R.G.U.S. before Snart backed out on their deal and helped them escape.

Cisco reveals he had developed a way to track the signatures of Snart's freeze gun awhile back and uses it to find the location of its last use. Barry rushes off to said location where he discovers Snart hadn't been abducted at all, appears to be stealing blueprints, and is actually working with his father (Michael Ironside). Before making his getaway Snart freezes Barry who is quickly thawed out thanks to therma-threading Cisco added to Barry's suit.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Lisa is told about her brother who refuses to believe he'd willingly work with their father...Lewis Snart, after abusing her as a child. After a heartfelt conversation with Cisco about her childhood, and her brother raising her, she maintains that Snart's in danger if he's with their father and asks him to find out what's going on. Barry tracks Snart to his favorite bar to do just that. Snart tells him things are a bit complicated at the moment with his family. Barry offers his help and worries that whatever he's got himself caught up in with his father, people are going to die as result, something that goes against Leonard's code. Snart tells him to back off and threatens exposing the Flash's identity to the world, a threat Barry is no longer afraid of and promises he'll take them down regardless.

At home, Joe tells Barry about Iris' mom. Barry convinces him to tell Iris the truth and not to worry, she'd forgive him for lying to her all these years, and would understand he was only looking out for her by not allowing her mother to raise her after the many "mistakes" she made in fear she'd follow her down that same path. Later on a tearful Joe tells Iris that her mother actually left them after skipping out on rehab and putting her in harm's way in one of her drug binges and apologizes for making her out to be the perfect mother she wasn't....but someone Iris deserved. To which Iris says she understood and that he was just looking out for her safety.

During the planning of their big heist using the building schematics they stole earlier, Lewis Snart goes over the details of the operation with an associate and his son. After the associate makes the mistake of questioning his son, Lewis pulls out a remote device that ends up exploding his head much to the disgust of Leonard. His decapitated body soon turns up in the back of a meat packing truck where it's discovered he was a security systems expert, had bomb residue in what was left of his noggin, and was linked back to the elder Snart. Joe wonders if Lewis had put a bomb in Leonard's head forcing him to work with him, but Barry says he'd just just dig it out at the risk of it killing himself and that there's only one thing he cares about that would force him into the position he's in now, and that's his sister Lisa.

After checking him out the previous episode, Caitlin seems to be moving in on Jay after the loss of Robbie, and just as Garrick suggests she assist with the construction of the speed cannon, Cisco frantically asks for her help when Barry's hunch proves true....Lisa's father had injected her with a bomb, and if it's exposed to air, it will explode!

Meanwhile, Barry manages to infiltrate Lewis' crew as a replacement tech after referencing Leonard's diamond heist from last season and the security system that guarded it. Posing as a janitorial detail, Barry and the Snarts make their way to a upper floor of a guarded high rise. After using his super speed to enter every possible combination into a security keypad which unlocks the door standing in their way, Lewis shoots Barry....where in flashback of the event we learn he Smallville'd the bullet, grabbing it before impact.

In what was one of the more questionable moments in the show's history of fantasy science, Leonard uses his freeze ray to solidify a hallway laser security grid blocking the path to the safe holding the Elder Snart's prize. After freezing the lasers Leonard walks through the grid shattering the beams which sends shards falling to the floor. Lewis follows him, cracks the safe, and opens it to reveal a collection of diamonds ripe for the picking.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco comes up with a way to hopefully remove the bomb from Lisa safely....but given his method involves compressed air, it comes with risks. Regardless, Lisa says she trusts him and as Barry gets to his feet across and changes into his Flash suit across town, he informs Cisco it's now or never as he is about to confront Snart.

As the Snarts bag the last of the diamonds, Flash rushes in and informs Lewis it's over. Leonard draws his gun on Barry, and Lewis pulls out the bomb remote ready to detonate. Barry asks Lewis "what kind of man plants a bomb in his own daughter?" "A very...rich...man." he answers before ordering his son to take Flash down. Back at the lab Cisco successfully removes the bomb and gives Barry the word which he passes along to Leonard revealing the two were working together. Leonard turns the gun on Lewis, who is shocked he'd partner with the Flash given he hated him. "That's because I hate you more" he answers shooting a bolt of ice through his chest, killing him. When Barry asks why he would do that when he knew Lisa was safe, Snart says he broke his sister's heart, so in turn....why not break his?

Cut to Iron Height's Prison, Barry has a conversation with Leonard. He tells him he's finally figured out his secret. He'd do anything for his sister, deep down he wants to do good, and that one day he could actually become a hero. "Being a hero doesn't pay as well" Snart says before reminding Barry he knows his secret as well, and he better hope he doesn't talk in his sleep while in prison.....a place he promises won't be holding him very long.

At Jitters, Patty bumps into Barry and gives him her number, while outside Lisa thanks Cisco, says he may be her only real friend, and gives him a goodbye kiss before zooming off on a gold trimmed sportbike.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, we see that the construction on the speed cannon has been completed. Thanks to a little sweet talk from Caitlin, Jay agrees to not return home until Team Flash can deal with the breachers and Zoom. After he goes off to get some rest, Dr.Stein who had been suffering abnormally high blood pressure, something he had brushed off despite Caitlin's concern, suddenly goes into a convulsion and lights up like Firestorm. Before de-flaming and collapsing to the floor.....his flames turn blue, something Barry questions when he and the others rush to his aid.

As the episode ends, a mysterious figure emerges from the speed cannon, and as the camera pans up we see that mysterious figure is none other than.....Harrison Wells!
