The Leftovers 2.2 FAQ

What’s it called?
“A Matter of Geography.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to series creators Damon Lindelof & Tom Perrotta.

What says HBO?
“Kevin, Nora and Jill try to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of the Mapleton riots, but problems from the past keep resurfacing. The new Garvey clan finds a fresh start in the safety of Miracle. Nora makes an impulsive choice, while Kevin gets entangled in the Murphy family’s problems.”

So did it happen again? Were Evie and those other girls by the water abducted by some otherworldly force?
We do not learn anything new about that this week.

The big news?
This episode explains season two. Some smart people think Nora’s preacher brother Matt may know what he’s talking about.

What else is HBO not telling us?
Most of this episode takes place prior to the Garveys’ arrival in Jarden, and it ends pretty much where episode one ended.

What is Nora’s “impulsive choice”?
I can tell you that it’s huge and it made me like Nora even more than I already did.

Does the episode open with a flashback?
It does.

How does it start?
Nora finds Holy Wayne’s baby girl Lily on her doorstep. Then Kevin explains to a shocked Nora and Jill his role in Patty Levin’s final hours.

Where Is The Scott Glenn character?
That would depend on the When. But Kevin’s dad does turn up this week.

Where is the Amy Brenneman character?
Kevin’s ex is behind the wheel. If you know what I mean.

Where Is The Liv Tyler character?
Guilty Remnant rookie Meg is not around this week. Again, there are a bunch of actors listed in the credits who don’t actually show up in the episode.

What’s great?
Margaret Qualley as Jill Garvey. Carrie Coon as Nora Durst. The fellow from MIT. The quest for a wristband. Kevin’s goodbye. The auction. The oven. Nora’s reaction to Kevin’s big confession. “Do you have a guess?” “Only why.” “We’ll be one step closer to answering that.” “Why wouldn’t it?” “What the fuck was that?” “I could start it up again.” “Please don’t put that on my head.” “Hard to tell if they’re part of your story or you’re part of theirs.” “You’re showing potential.” “I love you.”

What’s not so great?
Seriously, more people should be watching this show.

How does it end, spoiler boy?
“Uh oh,” says a character we haven’t seen since season one.

9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.
