Did those of you who saw it like SICARIO? Well, a buncha people did, including the folks at Lionsgate, who are apparently so keen on Benicio Del Toro’s character that they want to build a sequel around him.
So…I guess he survives the first one. Spoiler alert.
Writer Taylor Sheridan is back, but Denis Villeneuve’s involvement will probably be limited due to the BLADE RUNNER sequel. As for Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin, well, I can’t speculate on which ones we’ll see return until after I’ve seen the first film, but it sounds like whomever (if any) will return will be taking a backseat to Del Toro’s badass hitman.
I certainly didn’t think SICARIO was the type of film with “sequel” written all over it based on what I’d seen/heard. I mean, I guess you could make another Detective Loki movie, but could you imagine a PRISONERS 2 getting made? But as we can see, someone came out of it seeing further box-office potential, so let's see if they can maintain the character's momentum and mystique through an entire second film.
What do you folks who've seen the film think? Can they go 2 for 2 with this character?
