Among series competing for best drama, "Game of Thrones" got more than twice as many nominations as its closest competitors, namely "House of Cards" and "Mad Men."
The first season of "Empire" got three nominations but the final season of "Boardwalk Empire" garnered 10!! Among series competing for best drama, "Boardwalk" got the fourth-most nominations, behind only "Game of Thrones," "House of Cards" and "Mad Men."
No best drama nominations for "The Walking Dead" and "Empire," America's two most popular series.
"Parks and Recreation" squeezed "Big Bang Theory" (America's most popular comedy) out of the best comedy category.
"Mad Men" accounts for two of the five best drama writing nominations.
"Homeland," best-drama nominated for its first and second seasons, has resturned to the race for its fourth, Pakistan-set season.
Swtiching from the comedy category to drama did not stop "Orange Is The New Black" from snagging another series nomination.
Soderbergh got a directing nomination for "The Knick," but that series deserves much more recognition. At least it didn't get squeezed out of best drama by "The Good Wife."
Of the comic-book shows, “Gotham” and "The Walking Dead" got the most nominations, followed by “Daredevil.” “Agents of SHIELD,” “Constantine” and “The Flash” each got one nod. No love for “Agent Carter,” "IZombie" or “Arrow.”
