Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm a little bit conflicted here. I genuinely liked that first Jeepers Creepers flick. It wasn't the second coming of Freddy Krueger, but it was stylish and had a decent mythology. So I should be excited about the original writer/director returning with Francis Ford Coppola and his production company once again having his back.
But I find it hard to get excited for a new Victor Salva movie. I'm always one to say separate the artist from the art, which is why I can't find it in me to bring out the torches and pitchforks whenever Roman Polanski is in the news again, but there's something about Salva's transgressions that crosses some line with me.
I might be a hypocrite because I like Polanski's cinematic voice more than Salva's, but it's an honest reaction to this news. I'm trying to process it without being judgmental, but it's something I'm finding really hard to shake.
So, the news is that Salva is returning to a third Jeepers Creepers flick (per Deadline). He's been trying to get this thing done for a while. There was even some movement on it a couple years ago (read that story here).
Brandon Smith returns at Sgt. Tubbs and he's leading a posse to eliminate the Creeper before it can hibernate again. American Zoetrope will once again produce, this time with Myriad Pictures and the film will start shooting early next year in Canada.
