ABC in May elected not to order an “Agents of SHIELD” spin-off centered on SHIELD agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse, played by Adrianne Palicki, but now it looks like she might get her own series after all.
Variety reports that ABC is “closing in on a deal” to order a pilot for “Marvel’s Most Wanted,” which would follow Morse and her longtime SHIELD partner Lance Hunter (played by Nick Blood).
This will be Palicki’s second comic-book-based pilot. The 5’11” Palicki, a longtime “Friday Night Lights” player, was cast as the lead in David E. Kelley’s “Wonder Woman” pilot a few seasons ago.
Senior “SHIELD” writer-producer Jeff Bell, co-showrunner on the last, best season of “Angel,” co-wrote the spin-off pilot with fellow “SHIELD” staffer Paul Zbyszewski.
Morse and Hunter are both reportedly returning to “Agents of SHIELD” this fall.
ABC’s original May decision not to immediately order a Mockingbird series came hot on the heels of the network’s decision to order a third season of “Agents of SHIELD” and a second season of “Agent Carter.”
