NBC Developing Sitcom Set In The DC Comics Universe!!

I am – Hercules!!

Last year NBC had no luck with “Constantine”; it met with terrible reviews and abysmal ratings and was the only one of the four DC Comics series launched last season that didn’t get a second-season order. It didn’t even make it past 13 episodes.

It did however, do better than NBC’s “Wonder Woman,” which never got past the pilot stage.

But this is not stopping NBC from trying again.

And this time it’s trying with Ben Queen, who created last season’s NBC shitcom “A To Z," which met with terrible reviews and abysmal ratings and didn’t get a second-season order. It didn’t even make it past 13 episodes.

Queen’s proposed sitcom “Powerless” is described as “The Office” in the DC Comics universe, depicting what a world inhabited by Flash, Green Lantern, Batgirl and Aquaman would look like to the non-superpowered employees of an insurance company.

(My guess? They sell a lot of policies protecting against superbeing mayhem. Maybe the Gareth Keenan equivalent decides to become a nonpowered costumed crimefighter on the side. Hilarity ensues.)

Fox has “Gotham,” ABC has “Agents of SHIELD,” CBS has “Supergirl” and The CW has “The Flash.” NBC may be panicked that it’s the only English-language broadcast network without a successful comic-book derived franchise -- because it just gave “Powerless” a pilot production commitment.

Queen’s big-screen writing resume includes the 2001 Rob Lowe thriller “Proximity” and Pixar’s “Cars 2.”
