Hey folks, Harry here... I came to Alejandro Jodorowsky later than I would care to admit. I don't believe I saw any of his work in the seventies with my parents, though I know they went to see HOLY MOUNTAIN & EL TOPO, but I'm pretty sure I was left at home for those. In fact, it wasn't until I was going to be hosting a CULT MOVIE show with Roger Ebert when I was guest hosting with him. We were each picking titles in secret from one another, when Roger Ebert called me because he couldn't find a quality print of EL TOPO to pull video from for the show. Vulcan Video had a VHS, but when I told Guillermo Del Toro, he allowed me to borrow his Laserdisc of EL TOPO to take to the show. But when Guillermo heard I hadn't seen any Jodorowsky, he demanded that I come over and watch EL TOPO and HOLY MOUNTAIN - and my mind split open.
In the below video, Alejandro Jodorowsky makes a passionate plea to support cinematic art and specificially, his next film:
Poesía Sin Fin aka ENDLESS POETRY
For those of us that love Jodorowsky's work both upon FILM and the pages of comics, this is a tremendous chance to support an artist that works to bring beauty to our blue pearl we call Earth. Now, listen to a master filmmaker...
Want to hear more from Jodorowsky? Well, here's Moriarty's (aka Hitfix's Drew McWeeny) sitdown at SXSW with Jodorowsky, it is tremendous!
Keep it cool,
Harry
