This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: Robots, Time Travel, and Talking to Strangers!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, your pal Muldoon here with this week's selection of short films all created and submitted by fellow AICN readers like you and me. This week is jam-packed with great films from all over, films that look drastically different from one another, films that might just shake your world a little bit. So if you're in the mood to see something you've never seen before - then you're absolutely in the right place. Let's get this show on the road and jump right on in!

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

I'M YOU, DICKHEAD

TRT: 11:51

Let's kick this shindig off right with a travel back in time. Director Lucas Testro does the impossible, he puts a fun spin on time travel. With a solid cast and an especially funny lead, the concept of a man going back to talk to his younger self is golden - and nicely executed. "In a world where time travel is a simple hospital procedure, Richard Foreman jumps back in time to force his 10-year-old self to learn guitar, so that he can get more action with the ladies in the present day. Arriving at his own 10th birthday party, Richard is surprised to discover his younger self is less than willing to play along. Things quickly spin out of control, with hilarious consequences. It's one giant leap backwards for mankind..."

HOW TO TALK TO STRANGERS

TRT: 1:17

Next up is a wildly imaginative animated film from Rem Scobell. It's packed to the brim with outside the box thinking. "Oni makes a new friend. Spoiler alert: He might be a sex offender."

DEATH AND THE ROBOT

TRT: 11:30

Here we have an incredible stop motion film from director Austin Taylor and Writer/CoProducer Alexander Thompson. You might have seen Austin's work on the opening of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAKSHOW (literally my favorite show out there), where he got an Emmy nomination. Alexander is currently deep in post on his next film, a Vietnam War-set horror short. "Two lonely souls, the lone denizens of a lifeless world, form an unlikely friendship that yields an everlasting legacy." If you want to get more info on the film, then head over to the movie's Facebook page!

POPEYE THE PIZZA MAN

TRT: 27:01

Justin Robinson has our next film, "A directionally challenged pizza man delivers a helping to the wrong guy at the right time." Justin actually has a pretty solid behind the scenes featurette if you're interested in seeing how the film was created!

TITANO

TRT: 5:04

To close out this week's selection we're going out on a high note with director Ben Chavda and iconic character Irwin Keyes who sadly passed away just one month ago. Irwin's given us many fun performances in his career with parts in BLACK DYNAMITE, THE FLINSTONES, HOUSE OF 10,000 CORPSES and many more. His portrayal of Titano in the short of the same name is incredibly endearing and leaves you with a feeling of warmth. "An old man looks up at a faded movie poster and remembers a time when the world knew him as the terrifying monster TITANO, star of a dozen old films. What he doesn’t know is that once the sun goes down, he will have one last opportunity to give the performance of a lifetime and deliver a scare that will never be forgotten!"  The film was also cut by Spencer Houck, whom you might remember cut FISH FRIEND, a solid short that screened here earlier this year.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, that's all for this week. Hopefully you were able to catch something incredible that you might not have seen otherwise. I'll see you fine folks a week from now! Have a great week and remember - if you've got a cool idea for a short, then go out and make it!

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
