There’s an interesting reel on Vimeo.
The clip features Eddie Murphy’s ‘Donkey’ in a discussion with Shrek, voiced at that point by Chris Farley. Farley recorded a great deal of dialogue for the role, but his passing necessitated finding a new voice talent. Mike Myers was brought in, and much of the material Farley had recorded was subsequently re-worked to accommodate Myers’ style and mandates.

What do you think? Even from this short clip, and without any animation, the energy of the Shrek character feels quite different. Do you like Farley’s take more? Or, do you prefer the more acidic ‘oomph’ Myers brought to the awkward Ogre?
It should be noted that this video was originally uploaded to Vimeo two years ago, but for some reason it’s just now getting play across the Geekscape. I’m assuming the reel re-emerging at this time is likely a shrewd and clever viral effort to raise awareness for the I AM CHRIS FARLEY documentary which hits in a few weeks. And I guess the strategy worked, as I juts mentioned it.
