This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: Hugs, High Heels, and Film Noir!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, your short film loving pal Muldoon here with a handful of films I think you might get a kick out of. I don't know about you, but my little Facebook feed seems to be blwoing up about a little film (jokes) called ANT-MAN. Unfortunately I've not yet had the pleasure of checking it out, but it seems like that's defnitely the "go-to" theater event of the weekend. (Says the guy who's seen JURASSIC WORLD 6 times). Regardless, it's summer, the weather's beautiful, swimming pools are open, we have big blockbusters at every theater across the land... it's a damn fun time of the year, no? In that same spirit of fun, we've got a handful of shorts that all tell their own story in their own way. They're each completely full of surprises and are sure to add to your Saturday! I'll admit, I'm a bit under the weather, so my apologies in advance for the lack of in depth breakdowns of each short! So let's get this show on the road!

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

HUGS WITH HANK

TRT: 5:42

Director Blake Reigle has our first short of the day, a wtf tale of a guy in need of a hug, whether he thinks so or not. Be sure to check out what else Blake's got going on over on his Vimeo page!

JURASSIC PARK: HIGH HEELS EDITION

TRT: 2:23

I truly could not help myself from posting this fun skit from from XVP Comedy. It's absurd. It's Silly. It's fun. I've not shared my thoughts on JURASSIC WORLD publicly or even on Facebook for that matter and there's good reason for that, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying other's opinions on the film. XVP Comedy took it a step further - took one odd choice and built two minutes of hilarity out of it. "You loved the endless running in high heels in Jurassic World... Now enjoy them in the entire Jurassic series!" I just love that a fan took the time to create this - too perfect!

LONELY NIGHT

TRT: 2:47

Next up is a horror film from Paul and Patrick Gibbs that screams "I love Hitchcock!" "In this homage to the thrillers of master filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, a young woman who is experiencing hallucinations is forced to spend an unnerving night alone in her home, never knowing whether the things which are frightening her are in her mind, or terrifyingly real."

THE TERMS OF SERVICE

TRT: 10:47

Director Sam Patton and Producer Charles Miller have our next film, a mystery circling around a case of a stolen Netflix account. Yep, you've read that correctly. "THE TERMS OF SERVICE is a noir satire about a guy trying to figure out who has been stealing his Netflix account." If you like the film, then be sure to check out its Facebook page for more info!

GREEN WITNESS / GROENE GETUIGE

TRT: 3:15

To wrap us out with this week's picks I've got a relaxed and beautifully dialog-less impressionistic film from Elwin Rijken. It's not my standard cup of tea, but I found it relaxing and it's a beautiful reminder to go outside and explore your world just a bit.

Okay ladies and gents, that's it for this week. I'll see you all next week with another handful of interesting shorts you might not see otherwise. Have a great week. Be safe. Go make something!

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
