Hey folks, Harry here with a big ol report from Porkboy from on-site at the BlairWitch WebFest going on out there in the world of Miami. It is a lot more than just BLAIR WITCH stuff... And I have to say, I really like the concept of a film company sponsoring what is basically a big Horror Convention... gathering folks from all areas of Horror... and doing special events with them... for an entire weekend. Good show... good idea. Well, let's get on with it now... shall we? Here ya go....
Blairwitch Webfest --Day2 report--
Hey Harry,
I am a new writer and hopefully will be spreading some more news to you in the future. I would like to be known as Porkboy and Im down in Miami. Anyway, off with my first report. I attended the Blairwitch webfest with so many others and heres my quick report for those that did not show up. Some interesting news and let me tell you, the future of horror is looking good. The show schedule was swift but still very fun:
Brad Kern, Executive producer of Charmed, discussed his show and nothing important other then the show will go through more seasons and no future projects are in the works. Thank god for that!!
Stephen Barker Turner and Tristen Skyler or Blairwitch2 discussed the movie and about this being totally different then the first, the director was wonderful, be watchful through the movie, becuase something is bound to happen, and they were very pissed about the fact of Brad Pitt marrying. They also mentioned Harry and your review of how great this movie is!!
Debra Hill (Writer of Halloween) discussed how the film Halloween impacted the horror industry and that there will be a re-release of the series next year just following the suit of Exorcist. Lets hope new scenes will be introduced!! Also, a horror movie being written/directed by her will be coming out next year, a ghost story that guarentees scares!
Angus Scrimm (Actor, Tall Man in "Phantasm") discussed himself being 6"1, his future projects is an upcoming horror movie but its in the works, no more Phantasms, and Tim Tipone of Fangoria came in as a special guest and discussed some of their favorite horror movies, and that was about it!
IAM.com panel discussed producing the online WitchMix soundtrack for the BW2. Not much going on in this interview with no suprises. Right after this is Justine from a british band, Elastica, who discussed BW2 soundtrack and this was boring as hell!! She didnt even show up to the convention, she was on the phone, LOSER!!
The Blairwitch comics were discussed as well as the infuences the designers took to make this a great comic! Then a world renowned psychic researcher discussed the experience of examining the Amityville Horror House. Facts have been stated that it is indeed haunted. Freaky!
Cade Merill, Heather Donahue (chik from the first film) cousin, spoke of the Blairwitch files and even though it was all fake, she acted good! Haha
The director of the craft and an actor which Im not sure his name but he did play the main character in "Masterminds" were promoting "Rickey6". This movie is based on a real crime story of satanism and so on. There is no distributor as of yet but hopefully once the MPAA gets off their asses then something can be done! Support this movie cuz I want to see it in theaters...Spread the word www.ricky6.com
The middle of the day was boring with some interviews of David Skal (horror author), Tim Gerritsen (president of Human head studioes) about the Blairwitch videogames, and David Schow (screenwriter of "The Crow" and "Leatherface")
A great moment in the show was Linda Blair and 2 actors from their spoof comedy, BlairBitch project speaking about horror movies and Linda Blairs performance in the Exorcist. She looks great! Check their websites at www.blairbitch.com and www.lindablair.com
Probably the worst part of the show was this band named Indisguise. I wont even begin to say how crappy they were and I feel like taking a big shit on their faces. No comment on this horrible band.
Gina Mclntyre and Chandra Palermo from Wicked Magazine answered many horror questions which was very fun to watch them answer. They spoke about how their magazine was brought to the consumers and the future of horror movies in their opinions. Pretty hot goth chicks if you ask me!
The last segment was the weirdest of all!! This man is the head of a Satanic church. Not only did he perform a live ritual with naked women but he answered many questions of satanic belief and so on. Fun to listen to but I wouldnt take Satanism into consideration.
The day ended and it was great. Lots of fun and Im so glad people can get together like this and unite for this movie which will be known as a cult classic in the future! In between segments of interviews, extra clips from this movie were shown. I havent seen this movie yet but it looks awesome. Harry has seen it so if you want something to turn your head then read that. This movie is awesome, cast is awesome, and director is awesome. I need some sleep if I am gonna get you all the information about tommorows show which will include Manson, Bill Mosely, some more cast, and footage never before seen!
Take care people!!!
