More on the filming of HARRY POTTER

Hey folks, Harry here with Grantaire's observations of the latest set occurances and movements upon that film that seems to have so many excited. The Warner Brothers stores are being filled with strange stuffed white owls... it is all lost on me at the moment. There's a Rowling history DVD in Tower Records... and I completely don't understand that... but that's ok... I like not knowing this secret... and I hope Columbus delivers something special to introduce me to Harry and his world. We'll see...

Hey Harry, or minion of Harry,

Just a little note to update you on what is happening at the filming of the Hogwarts scene's at Durham Cathedral, in Durham, England. I was there on business the other day and gained access to the cloister area, which has many "stone pillars" against the walls with the letter "H" inscribed on them. The grassed area in the centre of the cloisters was covered in fake snow, looked damn convincing, although they had finished fiming for the day so there was no action, there was a large boom also on the grass, looked like they were taking overhead shots. Inside the Cathedral, (which, out of interest, is the one they used for all the interior shots on the film "Elizabeth" starring Cate Blanchett), there is an upper gallery which runs around the top of the building fronted by many, many archways onto the main aisle. The crew had prepared almost all the arches with fake cobwebs, and set up a large scaffold to get equipment up there by winch. I couldn't gain access to the main hall where they seemed to be filming the Great Hall scenes, but they're going to be damn impressive, the place has huge wooden doorways and amazing architecture. I spoke to a security guard who tells me that they're wrapping up the filming on Friday 20th Oct.

As an aside, the local news here in the North of England carried a story about locals being upset by the filming at Goathland, North Yorkshire (where the Red Hogwarts express pictures were taken). The town is regularly used by film crews but normally the crews inform the locals of the disruptions etc. The Potter crew didn't do this, and may not be aloowed back for subsequent Potter films. They didn't show any fimling obviously, just students of Hogwarts standing around etc, wearing long black gowns and grey suits underneath.

Hope this is of interest,

"Grantaire
