There's a new cat in town.
Tabitha Galavan, billed as the future supervillain Tigress, is coming to “Gotham.”
And so is her billionaire industrialist brother Theo Galavan, demonstrating that Bruce Wayne is not the only super rich guy in the city.
Busy Britisher James Frain (“24,” “Invasion,” “Fringe,” “True Blood,” “The Cape,” “White Queen,” “Grimm,” “The Tunnel,” “Orphan Black,” “Agent Carter,” “True Detective”) will play the billionaire, whose altruism hides “a century-old vendetta,” according to Deadline.
There have been a few characters named Tigress in the DC comic books over the years, but none of them apparently were named Tabitha, Galavan, or Tabitha Galavan.
DC’s first Tigress appeared in 1938’s Action Comics as a foe of Zatanna’s magician dad Zatara. The second Tigress, Paula Brooks, married fellow supervillain Crusher “Sportsmaster” Crock, and together they created daughter and third Tigress Artemis Crock. Artemis Crock, a supervillain and member of the Injustice Society, is described as a superb athlete, and made her first appearance in 1987’s Infinity Inc. #34.
In the DC Comics cartoon series “Young Justice,” someone named Artemis Crock was introduced as the heroic, half-Vietnamese arrow-shooting sidekick and niece of The Green Arrow. Eventually Artemis is revealed to be the daughter of supervillain Sportsmaster and begins working with the young heroes under the name “Tigress.”
