The talking zombie trend appears to have ended, at least if those zombies are speaking English.
Last month ABC announced that it would not be bringing back “Resurrection” for a third season, and now A&E has declined to bring back for a second season the similar “The Returned.”
Don’t feel bad for “Returned” showrunner Carlton Cuse, whose “The Strain” is about to start a second season, and whose “Bates Motel” just got renewed for two more seasons. Also, the former “Lost” showrunner scripted the current big-screen blockbuster “San Andreas.”
The good news for “Returned” fans is this autumn is slated to bring a second, 8-hour season of “Les Revenants” – the French series on which “The Returned” is based – so we’ll at least get to see what happened after Julie, Camille, Claire, Simon and Victor wandered off with the other undead outside The Helping Hand.
