Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. It feels like someone up there really decided to tailor 2015 to my personal tastes. I'm so ridiculously excited for The Force Awakens in December that I thought nothing else could grab my attention in Q4, but then Bethesda went and messed that up for me.
First they announced Fallout 4 officially and then just this evening they had their big livestream event and revealed that Fallout 4 will be released November 10th. Of this year.
And that's not the end of it. They're also releasing a collector's edition that comes with a wearable Pip-Boy THAT YOU CAN PUT YOUR SMART PHONE INTO. They'll also be releasing a free app that mimics the Pip-Boy screen and you can interact with it for a second screen experience while you're playing the game. Be still my beating heart!
Best part is that the Collector's Edition isn't stupidly expensive, clocking in at $119.99 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Pre-orders are live right now. Click below and secure it! I didn't get the special edition of Fallout 3 and I've kicked myself ever since.
With that pre-order you get the Pip-Boy, that sweet-ass packaging, a metal steelbook version of the game itself, a pocket guide, a Vault Boy Perk poster and I'm sure they'll also announce pre-order bonuses in the coming weeks.
If you don't want to go all out, you can pre-order the regular version of the game as well for a mere $59.99.
For those gamers who want a little post-apocalyptic fun while we wait, those sneak mofos at Bethesda quietly developed a Fallout game for smart phones and tablets called Fallout Shelter which they released tonight. It's free and so far blessedly light on the “buy shit to actually progress” crap that most freemium games fall victim to. Check your app store. Here's the announcement video:
That's fun (and addicting, I can already tell from my 30 minutes messing around with it), but the real event is Fallout 4 itself. Every minute of the gameplay footage from Bethesda's E3 presentation had me smiling ear to ear. If you missed it, check it out here:
Bethesda also dropped some new Doom material which was gory good fun and made me go from “a new Doom game? Okay, I guess,” to “Imma hafta pre-order that.”

I'm glad Star Wars is coming in December because I'm going to need something to pull me off my couch! Holy moly, you guys!
