Showtime is making a play at the Best Documentary Oscar with Stevan Riley’s LISTEN TO ME MARLON, a close examination of one of the most heralded actors in screen history, Marlon Brando. The film uses extensive footage, audio recordings, and photographs of the two-time Oscar winner in a way that promises to give us our most intimate look at the elusive, inscrutable, limitlessly talented actor to date.
I was a big fan of Showtime’s RICHARD PRYOR: OMIT THE LOGIC, and if this is as honest and unflinching as that doc, this should be a treat for cinephiles and acting junkies everywhere. It’ll be getting a theatrical release, so keep your eyes open to see if it’s playing anywhere near you. If not, it’ll play on Showtime later this year.
