Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Watching Ju-On: The Grudge in a dark theater was one of the last times I was legitimately tense watching a horror movie. It's easy to throw in a sharp jolt on the soundtrack and cause people to jump, but to truly get under the skin is rare indeed. From the pale ghost boy that meowed like a cat to the contortionist movement of the central vengeful spirit, Ju-On: The Grudge had everything it need to creep me the fuck out.
It was also a throwback to a time where slow building tension reigned king in suspense stories back when we were still licking our wounds from the post-Scream era of goofy, dull slasher horror.
Japanese Horror hit big and disappeared pretty quickly, but I gotta say my ears perked up when I saw there was another Ju-On film coming out. Ju-On 2 was decent if a little forgetable, but I'll always give this series a shot.
Here's the trailer for Ju-On: The Final. Something is either lost in translation with that title or someone's bad at titles. Still, dig the trailer.
