Speaking with the BadTaste website (I’m referring to an Italian website which is actually called ‘BadTaste’ - not AICN), JURASSIC WORLD helmer Colin Trevorrow responded to a question about whether to not he’d return for a hypothetical follow-up to the film.
His reply was was translated by Coming Soon…
“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie,” Trevorrow told the site. “I would be involved in some way, but not as director.”
This is smart thinking, and I think this is one of the reasons the ALIEN films (for example) have remained so beloved and memorable after all these years: each installment is distinctive. Each has its own style and voice and thematics. Which can’t help but (positively?) shape the way we perceive them as a collective franchise, and certainly impacts our recollection of the series as a whole.
JURASSIC WORLD opens June 12.
