It may be nearing Memorial Day, but in my house, Halloween never truly goes away. It is a holiday to be kept sacred and celebrated all year long. Which is why I am particularly excited to share this with you.
A loyal reader sent in a short film that is guaranteed to make you crave candy, popcorn, pumpkin beer and the comforts and reassurance of a locked and bolted door.
It's a short designed to test some concept FX work for the upcoming horror feature EVIL NATURE, and the result is a ton of fun. It utilizes lots of practical FX and features the most wicked pumpkin you have ever seen. Produced by TALES FROM THE CRYPT's Gilbert Adler, and directed by Darin Beckstead, the film features FX work by Todd Masters, who also worked on James Gunn's epicly awesome creature feature SLITHER.

Wicked, right? I'm loving the practical work at play here - kind of gives it an EVIL DEAD vibe.
Hopefully we'll hear more on this film as it moves closer to production. I've seen a bit of the cast list, and I'm really into it. Some great names, and if this test footage is any indication, the film could be a good bit of throw-back fun.
