Sony is evidently moving ahead with plans which were previously alluded to, but never made official.
A sequel to last year’s EQUALIZER big screen migration now seems to be in the wind - sounds like Denzel Washington will be back. A move which, as this article's title indicates, would mark the actor’s first sequel.
Washington will soon reunite with EQUALIZER helmer Antoine Fuqua for a remake of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, where he’ll appear alongside the already announced Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
It’s not clear at this stage if Fuqua will also be back for this new EQUALIZER film. Given that the first go-round pulled down nearly $200 million at the box office off of a $55 million budget - and apparently performed admirably on subsequent video - Sony’s interest in returning Fuqua could well be high.
