Paramount is shopping around a potential TV series based on DreamWorks’ 1999 movie comedy “Galaxy Quest.”
If you’ve not seen “Galaxy Quest,” it’s sort of about what would happen if a group of desperate, confused extraterrestrials came to believe that “Star Trek” is real, and then decided to give William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy a real Starship Enterprise to fight a real Klingon-y space menace.
Robert Gordon (“Addicted to Love,” “Men In Black II,” “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”), who wrote the movie “Galaxy Quest,” is being courted by the studio to write a GQ pilot. Dean Parisot (“Home Fries,” “Fun With Dick And Jane,” “RED 2”), who directed the GQ movie, is being sought to direct the GQ pilot.
We’re less than a month from the 10-year anniversary of the airing of the last episode of “Star Trek: Enterprise.” And there appear to be no plans at the moment to bring “Star Trek” back to the small screen.
But we may soon be getting a “Galaxy Quest” series!
