THE HUNGER GAMES Team Gearing Up for THE ODYSSEY!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

With THE HUNGER GAMES set to wrap up later this year, Lionsgate has been searching for their next big blockbuster. They seem to have landed on an adaptation of Homer's classic tale, The Odyssey, and are enlisting some of THE HUNGER GAMES creative team to bring it about.

Deadline reports that Francis Lawrence is set to direct, with Peter Craig writing the script, and Nina Jacobson producing. Lawrence directed all by the first HUNGER GAMES films, and Craig co-wrote both MOCKINGJAY installments, along with Ben Affleck's THE TOWN.

The source material makes for some incredible storytelling, and one that could really benefit from an epic, big screen treatment, if handled properly.

No word on how they are planning to tell the story, but my guess would be through several films, because a) Duh, that's how we do things, and b) the size and the scope of the story does actually lend itself well to multiple films, and could benefit from longer form storytelling. And fortunately, that is something this team in certainly equipped to handle.

The plan is to begin production early next year, so we'll probably be hearing a great deal of casting news over the coming months.

What do you guys think?
