SPIDER-MAN: You'll believe a Goblin can Glide

Hey there all you goody goodies, Harry here. You should love some of this... Seems that ol Raimi has been out and being a busy busy little bee, learning all that he can, and preparing like ants for the winter... SPIDER-MAN is well well hip deep in pre-production. I'm giddy over this one.... check this out...

Guys popcorn.co.uk has some excluive comments today from Sam M on the pre-production of Spider-Man.............

For the whole report go to popcorn.co.uk! Here is an excerpt:

...Of course the main role has already been cast, and for anyone who is finding it difficult to imagine Tobey Maguire as the swinging arachnid, Raimi reckons you'll be in for a surprise.

True to the art of method acting, Maguire is "undergoing a great transformation himself right now", working with a martial arts expert, a climbing expert and a physical trainer - who is helping him "work on his body motion to get down the spider-type moves". In fact, Maguire has spent so much time working on his physical image that Raimi reckons "it's not going to be a Tobey that anybody recognises".

More important, though, is the reason why the director thought Maguire was right for the job in the first place. After all, there were plenty of good-looking twentysomething actors all desperate for the part. But Raimi says it's because the 'Cider House Rules' star "has a good heart and when you look into Tobey's eyes, he's really true. The thing that made [Peter Parker] so popular is that Peter Parker is a good person and Tobey is a good person, so I think it's going to work."

Plans are also being made for the movie's special effects. But while the director is adamant that his movie isn't going to be all effects and no plot, computer wizardy is going to be necessary simply because "some of the outrageous things that Spider-Man is capable of are impossible to film with a real person".

A self-confessed 'Spider-Man' fan, Raimi says that, ultimately, he just wants to make other fans believe "that Spider-Man exists, swinging above the city of New York, 60 storeys up and battling the Green Goblin, who's flying around in his goblin glider." We can just see the tagline now: "Spider-Man. You'll believe a goblin can glide!"
