Via Roland Emmerich’s Twitter stream comes word that Vivica A. Fox will appear in the forthcoming INDEPENDENCE DAY sequel, presumably reprising the ‘Jasmine' role she portrayed in 1996’s progenitor picture.
That role was the wife of wife of Will Smith’s ‘Captain Steven Hiller’ character. Given recent news that Jessie Usher would portray the son of Will Smith’s ID4 character in this new installment, it’s a reasonable extrapolation that Fox will be playing the Usher character’s mother here. Further extrapolation would suggest that Usher will play ‘Dylan,’ who we first encountered as Hiller’s young son in the original movie (played by Ross Bagley there).
Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, and Charlotte Gainsbourg will also star in this second go-round, with Bill Pullman - who played the President in the first installment - presumed to be returning as well.
The next INDEPENDENCE DAY feature is scheduled to hit screens June 2016.
