STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS isn't the only science fiction work that Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson are doing this year. (And, if you haven't seen BLACK MIRROR, Gleeson seems to be returning to familiar territory here.) I like the stories that Alex Garland tells, and I'm really interested in seeing this one, in what appears to be a twisted love triangle between two men and a robot, and it appears that the robot may be manipulating both of them to her (its?) own ends. The movie premieres at SXSW on March 14th, before opening wider on April 10th.
I really dig the creepy vibe of this trailer, and the movie looks like they spent far more than the limited budget would suggest. The shot of Ava running after Isaac feels pretty intense to me. I'm a pretty big DREDD fan, but I love that Garland is doing something completely different here. Garland's quitely become a pretty terrific genre director, and hopefully this will blow him up even more. Here's the trailer:
