Nicolas Winding Refn is arguably one of the most fascinating directors working in the industry. His work over the past few years has caused a lot of people to sit up and take notice, and I, for one, am always interested in what he will be doing next. This new documentary, MY LIFE DIRECTED BY NICOLAS WINDING REFN, offers a close look into the motivations and process of the director as he was working to complete ONLY GOD FORGIVES. The film was directed by his wife, Liv Corfixen when they were on location in Bangkok.
Personally, despite the jagged edges, I enjoyed ONLY GOD FORGIVES. The hyper-violent, visually stunning, surreal story was a fascinating and unique viewing experience. Refn is a fascinating director, and this doc represents a window not only into his creative process, but also a look at how that process feeds into and affects his personal life and the chance to see exactly what the work means to the artist himself.
MY LIFE DIRECTED BY NICOLAS WINDING REFN opens in theaters and on VOD on February 27th.
