I am – Hercules!!

Gotham 1.16 FAQ

What’s it called?
“The Blind Fortune Teller.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to series mastermind (and longtime “Rome” showrunner) Bruno Heller.

What says Fox?
“When Gordon (Ben McKenzie) escorts Dr. Leslie Thompkins (guest star Morena Baccarin) to the circus, the date takes a turn for the worse when a snake charmer is murdered under the Big Top. The subsequent investigation is no “joke” as Gordon and Thompkins enlist the help of The Flying Graysons, as well as a psychic (guest star Emmy Award nominee Mark Margolis, “Breaking Bad”) to uncover the killer. Meanwhile, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) struggles underground and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) schedules a meeting with the Wayne Enterprises board. Guest Cast: Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Carol Kane as Gertrude Kapelput, Anthony Carrigan as Victor Zsasz, Dashiell Eaves as Kelly, James Monroe Inglehart as Ringmaster, Robert Gorrie as John Grayson, Abbi Snee as Mary Lloyd, Cameron Monaghan as Jerome.”

How does it start?
With a slumbering future Batman. Then we cut to a warbling Gertrude Kapelput. Then a slumbering Fish Mooney. Then a drunken Barbara Kean. Then Gordon and Thompkins at the circus.

Why is “joke” in quotes? Does Cameron Monaghan play the Joker?
"He may or may not be The Joker," showrunner Bruno Heller has told the Hollywood Reporter.

Does anyone shove a shiv in Fish this week?
I’m not certain we see that all-important knife from last week. Fish, who continues to sort of star in her own show these days, employs more strategy I would deem highly questionable.

How many Graysons help Gordon? Is one of them pregnant with “Richard”?
One Grayson helps. And there is talk of a Grayson baby name.

I gather Ms. Mullens, Bullock’s water-fearing object of desire, no longer lurks about?
Sadly she seems forgotten for the time being.

Is Bruce’s meeting with the Wayne Enterprises board as silly as one might anticipate?
It had to be handled carefully, and it is.

Does Dr. Leslie Thompkins get to the circus before she gets naked with Gordon?
A conversation between Gordon and Bullock leads me to believe that, as tonight’s episode begins, Gordon and Thompkins have not yet seen each other naked.

Butch is back? Is he now Zsasz’ gimp?
Zsasz’ basement is referenced!

Are Cat and Ivy still squatting in Barbara Kean’s apartment?
They are!

What’s doing with the lesbitastic Barbara Kean and Renee Montoya?
It’s a big episode for Kean, but the lovely Victoria Cartagena misses another in a long line of episodes.

Does Ed Nygma annoy any new coworkers this week?
No. But he’s not around much.

Does Harvey Dent barely contain a fit of rage as he fondles coinage this week?
No Dent this week.

The big news?
The Maybe-Joker’s mom works for the same circus that employs the acrobatic Graysons. But Jerome’s mom is not employed as a clown.

What else is Fox not telling us?
I judge this episode worthy of your valuable time.

What’s good?
Cameron Monaghan. Morena Baccarin, delightful depicting Thomkins’ Drew-ish love of sleuthing. Ivy & Cat. Kean’s legs. “What’s the message?” “People who enjoy folk dancing for instance.” “I have a flashlight.” “You just don’t know many women.”

What’s not so good?
Invisotext on! Fish successfully giving orders to her brutal, gun-toting captors strikes me as pretty ridiculous.

How does it end, spoiler boy?
“My family’s going to show you a good time.”

8 p.m. Monday. Fox.
