Sunfire fired this bit of news from the latest Wizard magazine (so go pick it up for the whole article). Seems they have Bryan Singer on the ol call up dial, and he was spilling some beans about the X-MEN flick. Noone is really sure when production begins, but there is a possiblity that as the SUPERMAN LIVES flick begins filming this Summer, so shall THE X-MEN. Damn I hope their good. Thanks goes out to THEOTOKY, I thinks does a little too much of 'the ol tokie' if you get my drift...
Harry, I love your site! I don't know if this qualifies as a legitimate scoop, but the new Wizard magazine (April) features an interview with Bryan Singer. In it, he reveals that the base X-Men line-up will be Professor Xavier, Wolverine, Storm, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Rogue and Beast. The villain will definitely be Magneto, who will be portrayed as being "not necessarily an evil man. His family was killed in the Holocaust and he has a lot of resentment toward mankind in general. He sees the coming of a future holocaust for his kind and does what he thinks is the right thing." The movie will not present the origin of the X-Men, but still takes place early in the team's history (apparently despite the line-up). Singer is very positive on the idea of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, calling it "a really terrific idea", but notes that Stewart isn't "incredibly familiar with X-Men" and the actor's acceptance of the part will naturally depend on his schedule and on his view of the script. Singer also notes that Angela Bassett has expressed interest in the role of Storm, and that he considers her to be a "wonderful actress." Singer confirmed recent denials about Gary Sinise having been cast (or even being the front-runner) as Wolverine, and the race for the part is apparently still wide-open.
The article also includes Singer's thoughts about the individual X-Men, most of which seem quite consistent with how they've been protrayed over the years.
