They’re Trying Again To Make A JETSONS Movie!! And It Already Has A Writer…

JETSONS

Matt Lieberman, who at one point scripted the SHORT CIRCUIT remake which has yet to be made, had been hired to script a CGI feature film of THE JETSONS.  So says THIS piece at Deadline.

At one point a few years back, Robert Rodriguez was looking to make a JETSONS movie - this apparently didn’t come together.  Earlier, waaaayyyyy back in the day, Chevy Chase was said to be cast as beleaguered futuristic family man George Jetson - with Danny DeVito playing his combustive boss Cosmo Spacely - in a live action version which didn’t pan out.  Seems this new adaptation is ‘starting from scratch.’

No word yet on other talent who may be involved (producers, etc.).  As suggested above, efforts to bring THE JETSONS to the big screen have been lengthy and considerable.  Given the relatively low bar set by much animated fare these days, it doesn’t feel like THE JETSONS would be particularly hard to realize, so I’m not sure why this has proven such a challenge.  But, who knows what they’re up to?

I will say that, with the CGI in kids’ movies being what it is these days, the sky cities/world of tomorrow inhabited by George and his family and cohorts could be rather dazzling if approached correctly.

More as we know more…
