The FABLES Comic-To-Film Adaptation Has A Promising New Writer!!

FABLES comic cover

The long-gestating big screen adaptation of Vertigo comics’ FABLES has a new scripter.

Jane Goodman (THE WOMAN IN BLACK, KICK-ASS, STARDUST, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) will now take a crack at the film, which chronicles the goings-ons of high-profile fairly tale characters who are forced from their kingdoms and relocate to a secret community in contemporary Manhattan.

Per Producer David Heyman (the HARRY POTTER films, GRAVITY, and PADDINGTON)…

"Jane is working on a draft of Fables as we speak,”

[EDIT]

"Nik Arcel [who's still attached to direct] did a draft, and now he’s supervising Jane, who’s doing a draft. Hopefully it’ll come in and we’ll be able to move to the next stage. All these things always take longer than you want. And Fables is not easy, by any means, but I think it’ll be pretty great.”

The Bill Willingham-created comic began in 2002 and is ongoing.
