You know how time to time you will come across rumors (or rumours depending what country you are in) that cause you to laugh, to double over in laughter, then you kind of sit back and dream about how cool it would be. Sigh. Thus is the following rumor. DO NOT CONSIDER IT AS BEING REAL I don't, but I thought it was something interesting to take a look at. ENJOY!!!

I read Aftonbladet (Sweden's biggest evening paper) yesterday and came across this small article about Batman 5. You may have heard this information before, but I certainly hadn't, so I decided to send you this letter just to make sure you didn't miss it.

According to the article, Clint Eastwood has been offered the part of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the fifth Batman feature subtitled "The Dark Knight", in which the 60-something-millionaire is forced out of retirement and once again heads for the batpole ... Sounds familiar?

Apparently, Eastwood wants $100.000.000 for his involvement in the film, but has only been offered $37.000.000 (if I remember correctly) so far. (BY THE WAY THAT MONEY IS IN FOREIGN CURRENCY NOT AMERICAN MONEY!!!!)

Jonathan Demme's Next Film

Buffalo Bill tells me that one of our fave directors... Jonathan Demme is set to direct BELOVED with Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover. The film is being made for Utterly Devine Productions for Disney's Touchstone Pictures. It takes place in the (mid) 1800's during the time of slavery. Both Oprah and Danny are (of course) slaves, with Oprah having an infant child. Oprah's character decides to kill her infant child to protect it from the horrors of slavery. The rest of the film deals with Oprah's character being haunted by her deseased infant (possibly because she's mentally unstable?) Filming is currently taking place in Lancaster, PA. Maaaaaan, does this guy dig diversity or what. I mean CAGED HEAT, CRAZY MAMA, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and PHILADELPHIA!!! This director knows the spread! Boy I'd love more news on this project!!!

Jim Carrey faces an animated fish?

Ahhhhhhh, don't you miss those Don Knotts' comedies of yesteryear? Haven't you been hankering for a remake of PRIVATE EYES or RETURN OF THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG!!!!????? Well Hollywood has heard you and the powers that be (Sebastian the animated crab) tell me that the people handling THE INCREDIBLE MR LIMPET will be doing some tests with JIM CARREY, within the near future. Will the fish resemble Carrey? I don't know, but it sounds like one hell of a fun project!!!

An effects God gets a directing project!!!!

Every now and again there comes a film maker that doesn't direct, that just works magic behind the curtain. Phil Tippet is one of these fellas! This man has given us visions that simply bring tears to my eyes... He deserves to have big budgets and cool properties. Well now PHIL seems to have his project. What is it? Well it's EXPEDITION.

Pre-production should start early next year on "Expedition". Phil Tippett himself is set to direct, with his studio set to do the effects (natch). Disney is going to pay for it, market it, merchandise it, and generally make a big ol' deal over it. It's said to be based on Wayne Douglas Barlowe's 1990 book "Expedition : Being an Account in Words and Artwork of the 2358 A.D. Voyage to Darwin IV", though Mr. Barlowe himself has nothing to do with the film at this point. It's going to be entirely CG animated ala Toy Story. Tippett studios should start work on "Expedition" as soon as they finish effects work for "My Favorite Martian" and "Virus".

The following is a brief synopsis of the book taken from Amazon.com:

Synopsis: In 2358 Wayne Douglas Barlowe joined the first manned flight to Darwin IV, a newly discovered world beyond our solar system. Here he provides naturalistic paintings that vividly capture the alien creatures he encountered. Illustrations, full-color paintings, and maps.
