Hey folks, Harry here with the great Sir Moggy of StayTooned.Com, who has come forward to give us all a look at the Studio Ghibli museum design and a preview of the main character in the next Miyazaki film.... Now as any long time reader knows... we here at AICN fully love and cherish the genius of Miyazaki... some of us to scary personal dress levels... Robogeek... but, that's beside the point. The man has a new movie in the works, and folks.. we want to know more and more.... Hayao is a genuine super-genius, and he doesn't use acme equipment in the making of his films... You might remember a previous report on this new film some time ago... Click Here To Revisit and see another image from long ago... but for now... here's Sir Moggy....
Hey Harry,
This is Moggy from StayTooned.com with a report on what Studio Ghibli has in store for 2001.
First off, you already know of Miyazaki's next film, "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, but here's a nice image of Sen, the main character of the film who is on an adventure to find her parents in the "Land of Spirits" after they've been turned into pigs. I've got a giant version of the image at Stay Toond's new Anime department at CLICK HERE . The film is scheduled for a summer 2001 release, but I was reading a Japanese magazine that was produced by Ghibli that mentioned that it probably won't be ready til late Fall 2001.
It seems Fall 2001 is the big period of success for Studio Ghibli as they introduce the new Ghibli Museum. I've sent along a model image of the museum to give you an idea of what it looks like. Miyazaki stressed the importance of catering to the children. For example, there are no maps or kiosks for directions; it's up to the children to create a curiosity for the place. The museum includes a giant statue of the robots in Laputa and a giant catbus room with a sunken in floor for the kids to romp around in. I've got some more tidbits for interested folks at CLICK HERE
October 22, the AFI fest is screening Laputa at the El Capitan theatre in L.A.
Miyazaki goodness for everyone!!
