Chris Columbus' Adam Sandler-fronted, video game-based tentpole PIXELS is not coming 'till this Summer, but Sony has begun the marketing rollout before the start of the new year with these five teaser posters featuring characters you'll probably recognize:

I'm sorta surprised that Sony thinks these 30+ year old video game characters are more marketable than Adam Sandler. Can you remember the last Sandler flick where his name wasn't prominently featured on every single marketing material? Guess BLENDED has made Sony think twice about leaning their whole ad campaign on the Sandman this time around.
We worried early on about how licensing issues would make adapting the original short film for the big screen rather difficult. It seems like going the WRECK-IT-RALPH route of primarily leaning on old-school properties is working out for everyone involved: these posters will no doubt be eye-catching to the generation that remembers plunking quarters into these machines in darkly-lit rooms with sticky floors.
