Trailer and Poster for Studio Ghibli Doc THE KINGDOM OF DREAMS AND MADNESS!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

With the future of Studio Ghibili looking uncertain, many fans have begun reflecting on the history and output of one of the greatest animation studios of all time. From PRINCESS MONONOKE to KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE to PONYO to THE WIND RISES, the studio has made an incredible footprint on cinema.

Filmmaker Mami Sunada was allowed unrestricted access to the studio for one year - a momentous year that happened to coincide with the retirement of founder Hayao Miyazaki, and the release of what could be the final films the studio creates. This documentary, THE KINGDOM OF DREAMS AND MADNESS, highlights this life-changing year in the studio's history, and contains some very personal, revealing moments with animation giants like Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.

Check out the trailer and poster below. The film hits VOD on November 28th, and is definitely one to watch for.

Granted near-unfettered access to the notoriously insular Studio Ghibli, director Mami Sunada follows the three men who are the lifeblood of Ghibli – the eminent director Hayao Miyazaki, the producer Toshio Suzuki, and the elusive and influential “other director” Isao Takahata – over the course of a year as the studio rushes to complete two films, Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises and Takahata’s The Tale of The Princess Kaguya. The result is a rare ‘fly on the wall’ glimpse of the inner workings of one of the world’s most celebrated animation studios, and an insight into the dreams, passion and singular dedication of these remarkable creators.
