Ok we know from published reports that John Williams, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are in Boston scoring.. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Ahhh, what soundtrack nut wouldn't give their right nut/ovary to attend that session. Can you imagine the goosebumps, the hairs standing on end. The music would run up and down your spine as you watched Johnny create magic. One day... One day I hope to be lucky enough to actually watch Willaims conduct. As for now... right now. What are we geeks to do? I mean on a screen above an orchestra is SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, and they are playing the score... LIVE! Yeah, I felt that too. Well, I have Moonwatcher, the fave monolith monkey man watching Williams do his thing... and well... let's all go...
Indeed, this new movie score is on a VERY high "plane"....
A powerful story, powerful score (Williams is amazing, he wrote a score for a WWII movie without a singe note of forte or fortissimo playing - wait until you hear it - the impact is shattering - bring your hankie). I saw some clips of the film in playback and finally had to leave the recording booth, too choked up, I thought I might not be able to play the next set. Spielberg is a genius, really, this movie will be remarkable. Many glorious low brass chorales and great trumpet solos/duets by Tomothy Morrison and Thomas Rolfs. Film release date is July 28.
Isn't that just Hell. I mean, it never really weighs on you, till you read something like this. We are all missing out on the best concert in the country. ARGH! Que Lastima!
